The National Confederation of Artisan Bakers of Bolivia (Conapabol) and the Government, through the Ministry of Productive Development, will hold a meeting this Wednesday to evaluate the supply of flour and bread for the domestic market, informed the head of the state portfolio, Néstor Huanca .
“We are going to have a meeting on Wednesday with the confederation and with all the representatives at the national level represented by this confederation, in the same way we are going to evaluate how we are supplying,” Huanca told BTV.
The Minister asked the population to feel calm and guaranteed that the flour and bread are guaranteed at the real price, from the Food Production Support Company (Emapa).
Emapa reported that it has stockpiled 130,000 tons of wheat, from which 1.6 million quintals of flour will be obtained, after being processed, according to the state-owned ABI.

Of the indicated volume, the bakeries demand one million quintals, for which there would still be a reserve of 600,000 bags, said the authority of the Productive Development portfolio.
The state company distributes the quintals of flour to Conapabol, through an agreement signed with that instance. The agreement establishes that bread has a cost of 50 cents in La Paz, El Alto and Cochabamba; 40 cents in Oruro, and 33 cents in Potosí.
“This agreement is in force with the true leaders of the confederation of the bakery sector. We are in constant meetings with them, evaluating the behavior of this price and they are sure that they will permanently supply the Bolivian population with this product”, emphasized the Minister.
The war between Russia and Ukraine resulted in an increase in the price of wheat flour, from 170 to 245 bolivianos, due to the fact that the product is imported from Argentina.
