Bahia and Flamengo begin dispute in the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil

The Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador will host Bahia and Flamengo, who will begin the quarter-finals of the Copa do Brasil at 9:30 pm (Brasília time) this Wednesday (28). National Radio broadcasts the match live.Bahia and Flamengo begin dispute in the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil

In a great moment of the season, in which it has four games unbeaten, the Tricolor de Aço should count on massive support from its passionate fans, who should fill the Fonte Nova. For a game of such importance, coach Rogério Ceni has some problems: forwards Rafael Ratão (sent off in the previous stage of the Copa do Brasil) and Biel (injured) and full-back Gilberto (injured).

“Flamengo is a great team with all the players missing. [força máxima] “It’s even better, and when it’s more weakened, it hires and improves even more. We have to be honest, the favoritism in this case doesn’t fall to our side”, declared coach Rogério Ceni in a press conference held last Sunday (25) after the goalless draw with Botafogo in the Brazilian Championship.

The Rubro-Negro da Gávea will start the quarterfinals with many absences due to injuries: Everton Cebolinha, Viña, Pedro, Gabriel Barbosa and Arrascaeta. Flamengo will also be without striker Carlinhos, who has already played in the Copa do Brasil for Nova Iguaçu.

A reinforcement, but off the field, is coach Tite, who recovered from a heart arrhythmia after the match against Bolívar at 3,640 meters above sea level in La Paz (Bolivia). In addition, Fla will be able to count on Uruguayan De la Cruz and striker Michael, who scored one of the goals in the Rubro-Negro’s 2-1 victory over Bragantino last Sunday.

This is the third time that Bahia and Flamengo have faced each other in a knockout stage of the national competition. On the other two occasions, the Rubro-Negro qualified. The first was in the quarterfinals of 1990, the year in which Flamengo won the title. The other was in the round of 16 of the 2000 Copa do Brasil.
