The Agricultural Bank (Bagrícola) Y Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD) signed an agreement with 10 rice factories belonging to the Agrarian Reform to finance the rehabilitation of these small businesses and the creation of a brand of this cereal that will be marketed at competitive prices in the lower income sectors from the country.
The food will be sold through the Social Plan of the Presidency, the Price Stabilization Institute (INESPRE) and the Economic Kitchens.
In the agreement, Bagrícola promised to lend each factory the money to purchase unhusked rice, as well as machinery and equipment, activities that will be supervised by the IAD.
In addition, these small companies will be included in the Rice Pledge Program, through the Pledge Executing Unit (UEPI) of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The agreement was signed by the Bagrícola administrator, Fernando Duran and the director of the IAD, Francisco Guillermo Garciawith factories in the provinces of María Trinidad Sánchez, El Seibo, San Juan de la Maguana, Valverde, La Vega, La Altagracia, Monte Plata and Sánchez Ramírez.

The favored factories belong to the Limón del Yuna Agrarian Federation, the D-10 Agricultural Cooperative, the Eastern Rice Federation and the Francisco del Rosario Sánchez Agricultural Federation.
Also, the Gregorio Luperón Federationthe La Conquista Multiple Services Cooperative, the Association of Small and Medium Parcel Producers, the Lagunas de Nisibón Irrigation Farmers Rice Association and the Ozama Agricultural Cooperative.
The document was signed at the main headquarters of Bagrícola, within the framework of the start of a financing program for the recovery of rice factories belonging to landowners of the Agrarian Reform.
The goal is for these factories to become true productive and profitable companiesthat provide jobs and contribute to the social and economic development of their communities.
The document says in its recitals that Bagrícola works for the economic self-sufficiency of agricultural producers and an adequate modern physical and technological infrastructure.
