SAINT JOHN OF THE MAGUANA. -The administrator of Banco Agrícola (BAGRICOLA), Fernando Durán, affirmed yesterday that the Government has the money, the technicians, the innovations and the political will to make the San Juan de la Maguana valley one of the most productive regions of the country.
He stated that the Agricultural Bank and the government agricultural sector only need an alliance with the province’s producers, so that all actions in this direction go in the same direction.
Durán spoke accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, Limber Cruz, during a meeting with representatives of the productive sectors of that demarcation, at the beginning of the work of the San Juan Development Development Plan (PLANDE-VSJ), announced last Saturday by President Luis Abinader, with an initial investment of RD$2,000 million.
“President Abinader, in an unprecedented action, has provided the necessary resources and has told us that no resources will be lacking, that he will do everything necessary to achieve this plan. We only need your commitment, that we work together, “said Durán.
Last Saturday, President Abinader delivered RD$2 billion to the Agricultural Bank to diversify agriculture in San Juan and improve the living conditions of the province’s inhabitants.
The administrator of Agricultural bank He said that the government’s commitment to achieving this goal is so great that five days after the head of state’s trip to San Juan, the agricultural team moved to that province to begin work.
He considered that all the conditions are given for the aforementioned plan to be successful, because the province has excellent land and the 25,000 agricultural producers with aspirations to achieve success.
“We want that alliance of the entire community of San Juan, of all forces, that we work in the same direction, with the same commitment, you and us,” said Durán, during the activity attended by the mayor of San Juan de the Maguana, Hanoi Sánchez; Deputy Frank Ramírez and Leónidas Batista, director of the Dominican Coffee Institute (Inducafé).
Durán stated that today’s agricultural production is a great challenge, because planting, harvesting and require “a lot of knowledge and a lot of technology.”
He added that “all these factors of production are what we are called to put into operation with this plan that we are going to develop. We can achieve great things. We have to think big and there are many opportunities here”
