Piu did not start well, bumped into the first barrier, but recovered during the race and finished it at 46s84. Current Olympic champion, Benjamin completed the course in 46s52.
The American was initially disqualified for overthrowing the barrier of his ray and moved to the side, which could infringe the rule TR22.6.3, from the World Athletics, which is the International Athletics Federation. For a moment, the Brazilian inherited first place, but the Confederation of the United States appealed and managed to reverse the punishment of his athlete.

Silver in Tokyo was Brazil’s second medal at this year’s World Cup. The first came with Brazilians Caio Bonfim in the 35 -kilometer race of the athletic march.
