Ayacucho: PNP Ensign dies in anti-drug operation after a gunshot wound to the chest

Ensign Marco Cosme Vergara (24) lost his life during an anti-drug operation in the city of Huanta – Ayacucho, after a confrontation with members of a criminal organization, he was shot in the chest and died on the way to the hospital.

Agents from the PNP Anti-Drug Directorate (Dirandro) engaged in a shootout at the home of Enrique Montes Taipe, who was being investigated for allegedly having committed the crime of illicit drug trafficking. Unfortunately, the second lieutenant was not wearing a bulletproof vest.

Montes Taipe was taken to the headquarters of the Department of Anti-Drug Tactical Operations (Depotad) in Huanta accompanied by a strong police contingent to carry out the corresponding procedures.
