They were dressed in civilian clothes, both in the front of the truck with license plate B0E-294. Nervous in the presence of their colleagues, they knew that if they checked the unit they were in, they would be surprised to find drugs, the discovery or seizure of which had not been reported to their superiors.
On the morning of Wednesday, December 18, personnel from the Dirandro PNP- Tranca Base, near the Santa Catalina Tranca Population Center in Ninabamba – La Mar Ayacucho, intervened on the Chungui – Huamanga highway, at a truck that was driven by the ST3 PNP Gil Pérez Alvarado and S3 PNP Luis Miguel Lizarraga Gómez who served in the same base as them, the Dirandro – Division of Maneuver Against Illicit Drug Trafficking (DIVMCTID) – Vraem de Chungui.
When the intervening police officers carried out the vehicle search, they found three canvas backpacks in the back seat, and inside them were 31 brick-type packages wrapped with yellow tape.
When subjected to the rigorous test, the contents of the packages tested positive for cocaine alkaloid.
The Tranca police officers proceeded to arrest ST3 PNP Gil Pérez Alvarado and S3 PNP Luis Miguel Lizarraga Gómez for being immersed in the commission of the crime of illicit drug trafficking. In addition, in the same unit, 02 AKM rifles, 6 cacerinas, 177 ammunition, 4 cell phones and S/400 were found.
The drugs, vehicle, weapons and money were placed at the disposal of the Department of Anti-Drug Tactical Operations (DEPOTAD) Huamanga, for legal proceedings.
It is speculated that the agents seized the drugs from backpackers and did not report what was found. They could also be part of organized drug trafficking gangs in the area.
