Ayacucho: 80% of schools in Paucar del Sara Sara are in critical condition

The start of the 2023 School Year showed that a large number of schools in the Ayacucho region do not meet the infrastructure requirements to guarantee safe classes. Thus, the director of the UGEL Paucar del Sara Sara, Juan Celestino Huachaca Collao, reported that around 80% of the educational institutions in the province are in terrible conditions and 30% are at risk and need the intervention of the authorities urgently since it endangers the students of the three educational levels.

“Unfortunately, 80% of the 105 educational institutions in the province of Paucar del Sara Sara are in terrible conditions and 30% are in risky conditions because they have been operating for years with adobe material and there are reports from the directors that their institutions no longer give for more. These institutions are years old. They are anti-pedagogical, they are made of adobe. There is quite a lack in terms of educational infrastructure in the province, ”he declared.

According to the director of the UGEL, the highest rate of precariousness in educational infrastructure was reported in the districts of Lampa, Colta and Marcabamba and their respective annexes where, despite the demands made to the corresponding authorities, the institutions remain in critical condition.

“To date we have not had the intervention of the national government, they are already good years that the national government does not set its sights on our province and the last intervention was in the period of former president Ollanta Humala. At the regional level we have been attended at the initial and secondary levels and at the local level, due to the issue of its limited budget, there has been almost no intervention except in some cases in the Oyolo district, but specifically on the construction of a new infrastructure We have not had the support,” he said.

CALL TO THE AUTHORITIES

Finally, the educational authority stressed that it is essential that the national, regional and local government authorities adopt urgent measures and allocate the necessary budget to reduce the gap in educational infrastructure in order to meet the demands of the student population.

“I call on the national and regional authorities to take a look at our province. We are the furthest province from the capital of the region and that means that care is only prioritized in that area or where there is more population. However, being a small province does not mean that we do not have needs. Paucar del Sara Sara should be considered with some type of project or distribute the budgets proportionally so that we are all served ”, he specified.
