Ayacucho: 29 injured and 4 dead after bus crash in Negro Mayo

The interprovincial bus of the transport company Vía SAC went off the road at approximately 5:00 a.m. in the Negro Mayo sector, Chipao district, Lucanas province, in the Ayacucho region. So far, the Ayacucho Regional Health Directorate reported 29 injured and 4 dead.

Diresa reported that they deployed a team of firefighters and health personnel to provide first aid, and mobilized 5 ambulances from the health centers of Lucanas, San Pedro, Pampamarca and the Support Hospital. The Fire Company, the National Police of Peru and security guards also arrived at the scene to provide support.

The 29 injured are being treated at the Puquio Support Hospital. The regional director of Health of Ayacucho announced that they are evaluating whether some of the injured can be transferred to larger hospitals for specialized care.
