The 2022 La Rosa Blanca Children’s and Youth Literature Prize was awarded in the Rubén Martínez Villena room, of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac), as one of the literary activities within the framework of the International Book Fair of La Havana.
In the children’s literature category, he won the Four friends (Editorial Cauce), by Nelson Simón, for constituting a book capable of addressing, as simply as possible, the complex issue of loneliness.
The rains do not come to Puerto Blanco (Editorial Gente Nueva), by Carlos L. Zamora, was awarded in the category of youth literature. A text that, according to the jury, “stands out for its truth, poetic sense, emotionality, and the effective level of suggestion it entails.”
Lazarito and the seaby Leo Regal, illustrated by Osvaldo Pestana Montpeller, Dariee Valle Borges and Noel Cabrera Fernández, was awarded the prize in the Illustration category.
Likewise, the children’s literature book obtained a mention in Illustration The rabbit that lived in a hatby Celina Bernal García, illustrated by Raúl Martínez Hernández.
Also in Illustration, but in children’s literature he was awarded madam butterflyin Gretel Ávila’s version, illustrated by Osvaldo Chong and Ernesto Chávez.
The La Rosa Blanca Prize has been awarded by the Uneac Children’s and Youth Literature Section since 1985.
