He income average in Metropolitan Lima amounted to S/2,293.9 in the third quarter of the year, which meant a growth of S/239 when compared to the same period last year, revealed the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).
According to INEI data, the income of men increased to S/2,581.5, while that of women totaled S/1,940.1. That is, women earn 75.2% of men’s income.
“The highest incomes were obtained by the population with higher university education, who earned 3 times more than those employed with primary education or a lower level of education, 2.2 times more than the income of a worker with secondary education and 1.8 times more than the income of the population with non-university higher education,” he added.
EMPLOYED POPULATION
According to INEI data, between July and September, the employed population in Metropolitan Lima grew 3.9% compared to the same period in 2019, and registered an increase of 15.2% compared to 2019.
“In the quarter of analysis in Metropolitan Lima there were 5 million 674 thousand people with employment, which represented 94.3% of the Economically Active Population (EAP),” the INEI stated in its report.
Meanwhile, the percentage of adequately employed people increased by 12.8%, while underemployment fell by 9.9%. On the other hand, unemployment fell to rates of 5.7%, even below the 5.8% in 2019.
