Avavit: Six international airlines return to Venezuela between February and March

The president of Avavit highlighted that connectivity impacts other areas such as health, commerce and business. The return of these airlines is expected to stabilize or even reduce air ticket prices

At least six international airlines will resume their flights to Venezuela between this month of February and March, reported the president of the Venezuelan Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (Avavit), Vicky Herrera.

In statements to the EFE agency, the organization pointed out that the companies TAP, Turkish Airlines, Latam, Avianca, GOL and Plus Ultra have already confirmed the resumption of their operations to and from the country, whose connectivity has been affected since November, when the United States asked for extreme precautions when flying over Venezuela in the face of what it considered “a potentially dangerous situation,” in the midst of its military deployment in the Caribbean Sea.

The Venezuelan aeronautical authority had responded to the decision of these airlines to suspend their flights with the revocation of their permits.

The head of Avavit confirmed to EFE that Turkish informed travel agencies that it will reopen the route between Caracas and Istanbul as of March 3 with three weekly frequencies.

«At the moment, you will only be able to see availability during the month of March. We continue working to add the entire flight offer to the system in the following months. We appreciate your understanding while we finish adjusting the itineraries,” reads the notice from the Turkish company.

Herrera indicated that Plus Ultra confirmed its return for March 3 with two weekly frequencies.

Regarding Latin America, he noted that Avianca begins on February 12 with seven weekly flights and Latam on February 23 with four frequencies.

The Brazilian GOL announced this Friday that it will resume flights between São Paulo and Caracas on March 8.

The Portuguese TAP recently said that it will resume its connection with the Latin American country starting March 30.

On the other hand, the Venezuelan Laser Airlines announced this Friday the 6th to its clients that they will return to their direct trips to Madrid on February 18, in alliance with its ally Hifly.

Recently, Wingo, a Colombian airline that resumed its flights from Bogotá to Caracas on January 16, announced that starting March 1 it will also resume flights from Medellín to the Venezuelan capital with three weekly frequencies.

Herrera celebrated these resumptions as “extremely positive” news for the sector and for the country in general, remembering that connectivity also impacts other areas such as health, commerce, business and family gatherings.

The return of these airlines is also expected to stabilize or even reduce air ticket prices.

On January 29, US President Donald Trump announced the reopening of air connections with Venezuela, after a phone call with Delcy Rodríguez, head of the Executive, who said that all airlines are welcome to the country.
