Necessary to evaluate autonomous organizations of the CDMX
Jorge David Aljovín, a political analyst and specialist in electoral law, declares himself in favor of a review of the autonomous bodies in Mexico City given the country’s economic situation and the expense involved in its bureaucracies, especially the local Electoral Institute.
Electoral institutions can be reviewed, especially when we are facing a context of recession and a serious economic crisis that is not only looming but that we are experiencing.
“We must avoid polarization, put these scenarios in black and white, I think that rather we have to build the gray ones and generate a self-criticism about whether these executive areas really had a reason for being in the Electoral Institute of Mexico City itself”, points out.
The specialist exemplifies that the IECM had an inspection area when these functions were already concentrated in the National Electoral Institute (INE).
Aljovín also considers it necessary to put a magnifying glass on the amounts earned by the holders of autonomous organizations.
“This issue of salaries should be reviewed with a magnifying glass, especially if you start to think that there should be asset declarations of all public officials in order to detect cases, relationships and conflicts of interest,” he says.
