According to their information, at 8:00 p.m., most of the monitoring stations in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico recorded acceptable and good air quality for PM2.5.
The trend is towards a decrease in concentrations, given the ventilation that has occurred in recent hours and the meteorological conditions that have allowed the dispersion of contaminants, the Commission explained.
The environmental contingency was activated due to the amount of contaminants left by the fireworks used for the New Year celebration.
Authorities also said that the lighting of bonfires during the celebration contributed to the pollution.
Millions of Mexicans celebrated during the last hours of 2025 and the first hours of 2026.
