Santo Domingo.– The National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) seized more than 279 thousand grams of different narcotics.
According to the agency, in recent weeks more than five thousand operations and raids have been carried out, managing to remove 230,931 grams of marijuana, 46,358 of cocaine, 2,705 grams of crack, as well as 1,735 pills from the streets. ecstasy.
In the operations, aimed at countering micro-drug trafficking, 2,447 people were arrested and 25 firearms were confiscated, including pistols, revolvers and shotguns, 45 bladed weapons, ammunition, seven cars, 163 motorcycles and 672 cell phones.
In addition, 24 communication radios, 95 scales, one million 649 thousand pesos in cash, 3,074 US dollars, sheaths, scissors, tapes, among other evidence, were seized.
The joint operations were concentrated in the National District, Santiago, La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, San Cristóbal, Azua, Peravia, San Juan and Barahona.
In addition, operations were carried out in San Francisco de Macoris, Sanchez Ramirez, Maria Trinidad Sánchez, Samaná, Montecristi, Santiago Rodríguez, among others.
In recent weeks, the authorities have reinforced actions against drug micro-trafficking, which has made it possible to seize hundreds of portions of different narcotics and arrest dozens of people linked to this illicit business.
