Authorities of “La Modelo” still do not allow Jaime Navarrete to be visited by his family

Margine Blandón, mother of the political prisoner Jaime Enrique Navarretedenounced that the authorities of the Jorge Navarro Penitentiary System, in Tipitapa, continue to deny him visits and do not receive the parcels that his relatives bring him every month.

“The last time I visited him was on February 3, but since that date I have not heard from my son (…) The only thing they know how to say —the authorities of La Modelo— is that the person who is going to visit him is not registered in the list,” said the mother of the prisoner of the Ortega y Murillo dictatorship.

He also said that for the visit on March 2, Navarrete’s daughter brought food to the prison, but she was not received either. “President Daniel Ortega said – on February 9 that he exiled 222 former political prisoners – that my son was free, that’s why I demand that they release him,” Margine Blandón demanded.

He stressed that Navarrete has already served a sentence of three years and six months in prison for the alleged crimes of possession of psychotropic drugs, other controlled substances and illegal possession of weapons. The established sentence ended on January 24, 2023, but still, the Nicaraguan regime refuses to release.

In a receipt provided by the mother of the political prisoner, it was verified that the fine of more than 300 dollars imposed on Navarrete has already been paid, which Margine Blandón paid on December 5, 2022 at the Banco de la Producción (Banpro).

«My son has to be free, he has already served his sentence; In addition, many political prisoners have already been released, why isn’t my son released? That is an injustice,” the mother of the political hostage reproached desperately.

Regarding the physical condition of Navarrete Blandón, his mother indicated that the young opponent is in very poor health and that for four years his nasal septum has been fractured.

«There are two fractures that Jaime Navarrete has suffered in his nose, the first in 2018 and the second in 2019. My son cannot breathe through his nose due to that attack. Now they are giving him severe headaches, he has fainted and has high blood pressure, “explained Blandón.

“My son has no crime in the United States”

On the other hand, Navarrete’s mother referred to the release of 222 former political prisoners on February 9, and that her son was on the list, as mentioned by the dictator Daniel Ortega himself, however, she affirms that she does not understand “why they released others and not my son».

He also said he was unaware of the reasons why, according to Ortega, Jaime Navarrete was excluded by the United States. “I don’t know why my son was excluded if he has not committed any crime in that country,” adding that “we are in that investigation — of the reasons for the exclusion — and we are waiting for a response from the United States Government.”

For Margine Blandón, the deprivation of her son’s liberty is a “lack of love for others.” “Enough of so much violation of my son’s rights, they have him isolated for a single whim,” she replied.

The release took place on the night of Monday, March 27, confirmed sources on condition of anonymity to Article 66However, the other opponent is still locked up and incommunicado.
