Authorities are investigating the possible causes of a mass poisoning recorded last Monday, November 3, at the Humberto Fernández Morán educational institutions and the UEN San Casimiro, with a total of 24 people affected.
“At the Humberto Fernández Morán private school there were 12 people affected (7 students from 12 to 15 years old and 5 adults) and at the UEN San Casimiro there were 12 people affected (5 female students and 7 members of the health staff who provided care), with a total of 24 affected people, who presented mild symptoms such as headache, itching, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and dizziness,” reported Mayor Mayker López.
The local president indicated that those affected were immediately transferred to the “San Casimiro” Popular Specialized Clinic, where they applied the corresponding treatment to stabilize those admitted.
“All those affected, so far, have responded positively to treatment and are stable,” López added.
Likewise, biosafety and cleaning measures were taken in the affected areas of the educational facilities, an action that was accompanied by the deployment of a constant patrol and surveillance operation in the educational institutions of the Aragüeña town.
“A multidisciplinary health and safety team was activated in coordination with the Mayor’s Office and the Government, including personnel from Epidemiology, Firefighters, Civil Protection, Cicpc, Sebin, GNB, PNB and the Aragua State Police,” he stated.
Finally, he highlighted that no new cases of poisoning have been reported and called for calm and not to spread false information that could cause anxiety in the population.
Vice Minister of Health visited the town
On Wednesday night, the Vice Minister of Collective Health and National Director of Epidemiology and Disasters, Dr. Luz Rodríguez, visited the facilities of the “San Casimiro” Popular Clinic, where she followed up on the cases presented, guaranteeing timely and quality care for each of the patients.
The official issued precise instructions to continue washing the institutions using only water, as well as home visits by medical personnel to carry out rigorous control and monitoring of all affected people.
