Authorities empty 3 command offices in Chiapas; they investigate police

So far there is no official statement that explains the reasons for these actions, but local media report that the police officers will be subjected to confidence control exams, although they did not notify the uniformed officers in advance about the procedure.

Other versions indicate that the elements are being investigated for alleged links to organized crime and that a total of 157 police officers have been detained.

Relatives of the uniformed men denounced that the procedure was carried out coercively, as they accused that the agents were forced to get into vehicles to be transported and without the possibility of communicating with their lawyers.

The operation included ground patrols and overflights in the areas near the three commands since the early hours of last Saturday.

Just less than a month ago, 500 state and municipal police officers were arrested for various crimes, such as corruption, extortion, and links to criminal groups.

This action, according to the Chiapas Security Secretariat, is part of a comprehensive strategy to regain citizen trust and guarantee that those who wear the police uniform act under the principles of legality and honesty.

The state authority then reported that the arrest was the result of months of intelligence work and citizen complaints.
