Authorities detect illegal fuel trade on the border

Autoridades detectan comercio ilegal de combustible en la frontera

SANTO DOMINGO – The Army of the Dominican Republic and the Specialized Body for Land Border Security (CESFRONT) detected a transfer of fuel by motorcycles on the Dominican-Haitian border.

According to the details, offered in the last few hours, cases of people trafficking fuels using motorcycle tanks have been detected.

“They came here to the fuel stations and filled the tank of their motorcycles and took them to Haiti,” the source explained.

Likewise, the fully credible military source that offered the information indicated that thanks to the intelligence work and controls established at the border points, the mafia was detected in time.

They also indicated that while fuel traffickers try to circumvent controls at border points, members of the Army and CESFRONT work together to prevent such actions.

“If in the last hours we have frustrated that people who came to the national territory with motorcycles move to the neighboring country, transferring gasoline in their engine,” said an officer who asked that his identity be kept confidential.
