Dajabón – Members of the Migration Control team of the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) and the Fourth Infantry Brigade of the Dominican Army, detained 162 Haitians in irregular migratory conditions to be in the country, during an interdiction operation on the northwest line and border area.
Of those detained to be returned to their territory, 133 are male and 29 are female, three of whom are pregnant.
The arrests took place in response to the second phase of the Bayahonda operation, an agreement established between members of the Army represented by the Major General Commander General Julio Florián Pérez and Enrique García, General Director of Immigration.
They occurred in agricultural areas and highways in the Valverde province, while in Dajabón and Montecristi the arrests were made in Palo Verde, Castañuelas, Las Matas de Santa Cruz, Loma de Castañuelas, Magdalena and Santa María, respectively.
All the detainees were taken to the shelter center in the Beller Fortress of Dajabón, where the staff headed by Lieutenant Commander Junior Manuel García Montero, in charge of security, and Hipólito Alcántara, coordinator of the staff, carry out the purges to proceed to deport them by the border bridge in Juana Méndez and Dajabón.
