The Minister of Tourism, Daniella Cabello, stated that 354,000 people attended Morrocoy during the Carnival. Representatives of Ecosocialismo and Inparques said that they are analyzing the situation so that on other vacations, tourism in the area is “sustainable and ecological.”
Delcy Rodríguez, in charge of the Executive, presented an assessment of Carnival 2026 and said that almost 7,400,000 people mobilized throughout the country.
The Morrocoy national park was the busiest these days, as could be seen in videos that denounced overcrowding, and the Minister of Tourism, Daniella Cabello, stated that 354,000 people attended.
Regarding capacity complaints in Morrocoy, Delcy Rodríguez called for respect for protected areas: “I defend the spirit of recreation, of fun, but it must also be done with balance and respect for nature because we have seen certain abuse.”
To the Minister of Ecosocialism, Freddy Ñañez, and to the president of Inparques, Rosinés Chávez, the person in charge of power in the country asked that for the next vacation “we have human balance.”
Ñáñez said that after criticism for the misuse that some visitors made of Morrocoy, they met with specialists from the National Institute of Aquatic Spaces (INEA), the National Armed Forces, the Ministry of Tourism, Inparques technicians, marine biologists, among others, with the idea of ”sustainable, conscious, ecological tourism.”
Ñañez maintained that the high presence of people in this national park shows that “the beach is not privatized and belongs to everyone.”
The Morrocoy National Park is located in the state of Falcón and occupies an area of 32,900 hectares, where birds, reptiles, mammals and other terrestrial species live.
After video of Los Juanes Key circulated where people used foam for fun, yachts with loud sounds and a large number of people, the authorities reported that two people were arrested for misusing the spaces.
Tourism representatives stated that the most visited state for Carnival was La Guaira. They also indicated that there was a 17% growth in people traveling throughout the country.
