Diego Zárraga claimed that it took two for them to “transfer him, having one excuse after another for not transferring him.” He accused the State of systematically violating the human rights of his father, who is also a trade unionist.

He asked the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, to pay attention to the case. «All officials know and recognize my father’s innocence in this absurd case of the ‘American spy’, yet they keep him kidnapped, in delicate health, slowly murdering him,” he wrote.

At the end of April Diego Zárraga denounced that the authorities denied the transfer of his father to health centers. At that time, he pointed to Mirelys Contreras, former Minister of the Penitentiary Service, as responsible for what could happen to his father in the next few hours.
