Authorities contradict each other over the arrest of Ryan Wedding, a Canadian linked to drug trafficking

Ryan James Wedding is accused by the United States Department of Justice of directing a transnational criminal enterprise linked to the Sinaloa Cartel.

The 44-year-old former athlete was one of the most wanted men by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and for whom a reward of 15 million dollars was offered for anyone who provided information that would help in his arrest.

Last November, at a press conference, Pam Bondi, attorney general of the United States, stated that the former Olympian was the largest distributor of cocaine in Canada.

Ryan James Wedding was a snowboarder and represented Canada at the 2002 Winter Olympics.

At the same conference in November, the FBI director compared Wedding to drug traffickers such as Colombian Pablo Escobar and Mexican Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.

Wedding was identified by the US government as a member of the Sinaloa Cartel. Its function was to coordinate shipments of drugs such as fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine from Colombia to the United States and Canada.
