Guarderas indicated that during this January 31, 2022, a record number of rainfall was recorded. Measuring instruments indicated that there was 75 liters of water per square meter, an unusual amount. The last time it rained so much in the capital was in 2003, according to official information.

At the moment, work is already underway to clean up the entire area. from av. August 10 to Mariscal Sucre. TTechnicians from the Potable Water Company arrived at the catchment structure, in the upper part of the ravine. “They are cleaning up,” Guarderas said.
Also, the Mayor confirmed that there was a power outage and that Empresa Eléctrica Quito is repairing it. “We have a cut of five blocks from the upper part of La Comuna, in the sector of The cable car. It is about to be repaired because there were poles falling.”
This Tuesday, February 1, the Fire Department and the Potable Water Company will carry out overflights to have a clear idea of all the actions that will be carried out. There are already military and police in the area to ensure the safety of citizens. (DPV)
