In a statement, the Secretariat of Security explained that the arrest occurred after members of various security agencies were carrying out security and surveillance tours in San Cristóbal de las Casas, when they located a vehicle carrying people with firearms, so the necessary actions were coordinated and an operation was deployed in the area.
The detained people were identified as Genaro “N”, Juan Miguel “N”, Sergio “N”, Francisco “N”, José G “N”, José A “N”, Luis “N”, Ángel “N”, Yoselin “N”, Darwin “N”, Emanuel “N” and Diego “N”.
The detained persons were informed of their legal rights and, together with what was secured, they were placed at the disposal of the corresponding Public Ministry agent, who will determine their legal situation.
The head of the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, commented in X that with this action the generators of violence are inhibited, criminal cells are dismantled and the security of the People of Chiapas is strengthened.
The operation included the participation of the Secretariats of National Defense (Sedena), the Navy (Semar), Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), as well as the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the National Guard, the Prosecutor’s Office and the State Police.
“The institutions of the Security Cabinet reiterate their commitment to working in a coordinated manner with local authorities to stop generators of violence in the country,” the statement mentions.
