August 2025 holidays in Peru: know the free dates and what happens if you work

After the break for national holidays, many Peruvians wonder if there will be more days off in August. The answer is yes. According to Legislative Decree No. 713, this month has two national holidays that apply for both the public and private sector:

  • Wednesday, August 6 – Commemoration of the Battle of Junín
  • Wednesday, August 30 – Fiesta de Santa Rosa de Lima, Patron of America, the Philippines and the Philippines

Both days are not working for most workers. However, if your employer requires that you work during any of these holidays, the regulations contemplate two scenarios:

What happens if you work on a holiday?

  • With compensation: If your employer gives you another free day in replacement of the worked holiday, No additional payment is made.
  • No compensation: If you do not receive substitute rest, you have the right to receive three payments:

What if they do not pay what corresponds?

In case your employer does not respect these provisions, you can file a complaint with the National Superintendence of Labor Control (Sunafil). Failure to pay for payments worked without compensation is considered a very serious offense and can be sanctioned with fines that vary according to the size of the company and the number of affected workers.

Calendar of next holidays and non -working days 2025 – 2026:

  • Wednesday, August 6: Junín Battle
  • Wednesday, August 30: Santa Rosa de Lima
  • Sunday October 8: Angamos Combat
