Audita Government Purchase of rice in poor condition and presents a complaint before the Public Ministry

The Minister of Productive Development and Plural Economy, Zenón Mamani, informed that the Government initiated an internal audit and formalized a complaint before the Public Ministry within the investigation for the questioned purchase of rice allegedly in poor condition.

“There is an audit that is being carried out, there are judicial instances that have been presented”Mamani said in contact with the media, highlighting that the process is carried out with the corresponding rigor.

The holder of the portfolio avoided deepening details so as not to interfere in the course of the investigations, but confirmed that the case advances in two ways: the administrative and the judicial.

The controversy broke out in July, when the director of Inputs Bolivia, Lauren Fernández, denounced that The imported rice lot from Argentina did not meet the minimum quality standards and could not be used for human consumption or state supply programs.

The operation meant a disbursement of 63 million Bolivians. Since then, the cargo remains stored while responsibilities are determined and the final destination of the product is defined.

“These are public resources and, therefore, Complete and transparent investigation must be guaranteed”Mamani said.

The rice continues to be retained in state deposits, waiting for the results of the audit and fiscal investigation.
