Audio recordings are released showing discord in meeting with González Urrutia

As he warned on Thursday, the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, made public some audios and details of the recording of the meeting held with the far-right opposition leader, Edmundo González, after he had not denied any alleged coercion by the Venezuelan authorities.

“We hope for two things: that this will put an end to the gossip and that you will comply with what you signed here, sir,” said Rodríguez, addressing González Urrutia, after presenting some of the audios where, in his opinion, the “notable desperation of González Urrutia to flee the country is evident, on the same day that we met at the Spanish embassy,” the head of the Venezuelan parliament stressed.

On the other hand, Jorge Rodríguez also clarified that the letter sent by González Urrutia was prepared after a meeting held between the leader’s interlocutors and representatives of the Venezuelan government.

“He sought us out, there were no measures of any kind, as foreign press agencies and extremist sectors that operate in Venezuela have pointed out, there was no situation in which he felt violated, on the contrary, he sought us out to talk,” said the head of the Venezuelan parliament.

He stressed that the conversations were not only by phone, but also in person, as they managed to meet at the Spanish embassy in Venezuela. “The Spanish ambassador himself is an exceptional witness to this,” he added.

In another of the audios presented by Rodríguez, the intervention of the interlocutor who served as a witness in the negotiation with Edmundo González Urrutia is evident, where he says that the former opposition candidate is clear that he cannot and should not name or proclaim a parallel government from exile.

Second warning

Rodríguez issued a new warning: he assured that he will reveal a second document containing the details of the requests made by González Urrutia, which he claims refer to constitutional rights relating to the protection of his property, residences and vehicles and those of his loved ones.

“If you continue to violate the truth, we will have no choice but to publish it. I have that document, do not force me to publish it. If you reject this statement, I will publish the second document tomorrow,” he insisted.
