Santo Domingo.- The hurricane season in it Atlantic concludes this Sunday, November 30, after a season in which the experts’ forecast fell short, registering an annual cyclonic period below the average, which is 14 storms with names.
Next, we present data on the cyclonic season 2025with regard to the formation of Tropical cyclones in the Atlantic basin.
1).- The cyclones forgave the United States
No hurricane hit the United States directly this year, something that has not happened since the 2015 season.
Every year, the eastern United States is hit by one of these phenomena, but that did not happen this season.
2).- Only one named storm in the Caribbean
The only storm to visit the Caribbean was Melissa, which became a Category 5 hurricane, causing severe damage in Jamaica, Cuba and Haiti.
3).- Season below normal
This year, thirteen named storms were recorded in the Atlantic basin, which meant a below-average season.
4).- Significant deaths and material damage
Hurricane Melissa was the most destructive storm, causing more than 100 deaths and causing losses of more than six billion dollars.
5).- The route to the center of the Atlantic
Most of this season’s storms headed toward the mid-Atlantic, with only Melissa forming in the Caribbean.
Experts predicted that about 18 named storms would form this year, of which nine would reach hurricane status.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30.
This year there was a significant decrease in the formation of cyclones, as a result of the entry of dry air into the Atlantic from Africa.
