The State Attorney General’s Office requested information from the Ministry of Health on the alleged daily damage caused by the civic strike, of November 2021, for people who were prevented from being vaccinated or accessing diagnostic tests for Covid-19, which, according to the attorney Wilfredo Chávez, resulted in an unusual increase in coronavirus cases in Santa Cruz.

Chávez said that he asked the Ministry of Health for information on “what has happened in those nine days, how many people could have been vaccinated and have not been vaccinated, how they have prevented, with violent actions, that people circulate and have held massive concentrations of passage, that is criminal, “he said this Saturday.

The authority indicated that it expects a response from the Ministry of Health in the following week to analyze the “appropriate actions.”

Chávez argued that the nine-day civic strike caused serious damage to people seeking to be vaccinated and undergo diagnostic tests and reiterated his statements from last week, in which he accused “the right” of conspiring to increase infections in Santa Cruz, according to Radio Cepra.

The prosecutor also expressed his rejection of the reactions of the people of Santa Cruz and pointed out that it is intended to stigmatize them to create a “smoke screen” on the true dimension of the case of corruption of the 800 ghost items.

“(They are) trying to cover up the very serious corruption scandal that exists in Santa Cruz of the ghost items, where several coup plotters from the 2019 administration are involved, where members of the assembly and deputies of Believe are now involved, people from the Government, that is to say linked to the Government and the political front of Mr. Camacho. Those people are the ones who are currently making a series of assertions through the media, trying to (create) a smokescreen for the very serious corruption scandal that is shaking Santa Cruz and not only the Mayor’s Office but other public entities in that department,” he said.

He pointed out that he referred in a “reflective aspect” to what happened in Santa Cruz, about that “explosion of contagions that there has been and I have referred to linking this to the nine days of civic strike that these gentlemen have organized preventing people, unlike other departments, massively go to vaccination. That is a concrete fact, it is not a fact that I have invented and that is what I was referring to, they have conspired those nine days because people have not gone (to get vaccinated) and they prevented it by force with sticks.

“It is indisputable that those nine days of strike in Santa Cruz prevented people from getting vaccinated,” he said.

He regretted that those who promoted the nine-day civic strike in Santa Cruz and prevented the mass vaccination of Santa Cruz in that period of time, now try to question the Government that guaranteed access to more than 22 million free anticovid vaccines.
