Attorney General retaliates and puts officials out of work

Attorney General María Caruajulca has retaliated against at least nine officials in her sector after Peru21 will inform of the irregular handling that it has carried out and that they are aligned with the interests of the Government of Pedro Castillo, to whom he did not ask any questions in the fiscal interrogation to which he submitted on June 17.

Yesterday, this newspaper learned, Caruajulca forced the workers to sign letters to be notified that their contracts will not be renewed. These are advisors and specialists who regulate and safeguard the legal system of the State Attorney General’s Office (PGE).

In detail, the people who will suddenly lose their jobs -according to sources consulted by Peru21– They are two employees of the training center, an advisor, a specialist, four members of the Legal Advice area and another specialist from the Functional Control Office.

The sources indicated that public servants have not been informed of the causes of this surprising decision. Some were told that their departures are part of “an order from the attorney general.”

From the press area of ​​the PGE they confirmed to this newspaper that nine workers were informed that they will not continue in their jobs after June 30. However, they did not specify the reasons why this position was adopted.

The Pacheco Factor

This newspaper reported yesterday on the closeness that exists between the head of the PGE and the anti-corruption attorney Javier Pacheco, pointed out by the effective collaborator Karelim López for having asked him for “10 thousand dollars” in exchange for advising her in her case.

In fact, Pacheco is a regular visitor to the headquarters located in San Isidro. According to the visitor log, the last time the lawyer visited the building was to meet with Caruajulca on June 14.

Why the frequent visits of one of the most mediatic defenders of the State? A source from the same Attorney General’s Office told this newspaper – with the commitment to remain anonymous – that at that time the sanction unit was resolving the case that was opened against Pacheco in the previous administration, when the attorney general was Daniel Soria. .

The anti-corruption prosecutor was facing an administrative process for violating electoral neutrality, since he had declared to the press during the last presidential campaign expressing his apparent sympathy towards the candidate Keiko Fujimori.

“Javier Pacheco was acquitted of the charges, the argument was that the imputation of electoral neutrality was not typified in the system because it was not a functional responsibility; This should be seen as an ethical fault, but it was not evaluated in that way either, ”said the source. Caruajulca prefers not to show his face.

Exposing this scenario, the former anti-corruption attorney Luis Vargas Valdivia clarified in dialogue with Peru21TV that the responsibility of Attorney Caruajulca is “to defend the State, not public officials.”
