The investigation into the robbery of the National Bank of Calle 26, Calidonia district, continues at a good pace, as announced by the Attorney General of the Nation, Javier Caraballo.
He commented that this investigation is very complex, since the criminal groups that engage in this type of criminal behavior have obviously become more technical and have carried out this robbery in a fairly technical manner.
He pointed out that the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office together with the security agencies, due to the technicality of the fact, are reviewing all the security procedures that are established in this type of banking centers and the compliance or not of each procedure; later when the panorama is clearer, “we can give more details”.
He stressed that it is important in this type of investigation to be prudent enough not to advance details that could ruin the success of the investigation.
Caraballo asked the citizens to have a little confidence in this process. “We are sure that this investigation, like many others, will end with arrests, apprehensions, but we need enough time to be able to clarify the facts and give the community a response,” he said.
Last Monday, August 15, the National Police confirmed the theft of B/.748,000.00 from the headquarters of the National Bank of Panama, located in Calidonia.
According to the authorities, it is presumed that the antisocials entered the night of Sunday, August 14, through the air conditioning duct and violated the alarm and video system.
