Attention travelers: festive ‘Pico y placa’ for the return to Bogotá

Attention travelers: festive 'Pico y placa' for the return to Bogotá

In order to expedite the return of travelers to Bogotáthis Monday, March 21, the regional peak and plate measure will govern.

(What will govern this festive bridge in mobility?).

According to the mobility authorities, from noon, and until 4 in the afternoon, vehicles with plates ending in even number may enter; from this time and Until 8 at night, those cars whose license plate ends in an odd number will be able to enter the capital.

With this measure, the District Mayor’s Office, the Government of Cundinamarca and the municipalities neighboring the city organize the entry of travelers, with the aim of reducing congestion caused by the high number of vehicles entering the capital.

“We remind travelers that entry to Bogotá on the last day of the San José bridge (Monday, March 21), has restrictions from noon to 8 pm Between 12 noon and 4 pm, only vehicles may enter. with even plates and from 4 pm to 8 pm, vehicles with odd plates. We invite citizens to schedule their trips and get up early for the return plan”, said the secretary of mobility, Felipe Ramírez.

(The festive ‘pico y placa’ has begun in Bogotá: keys to keep in mind).

The sanctions for non-compliance with the Pico y Placa measure are stipulated in the National Traffic Code for infraction C.14: “Transit through restricted sites or at times prohibited by the competent authority. In addition, the vehicle will be immobilized” and the fine is equivalent to $468,500 in 2022.

HOW DOES IT WORK

These are the corridors in which the measure operates:

-North Freeway: from the Andes toll to the north portal of the TransMilenio system, in a north-south direction.

– South highway: from the municipal limit of Soacha to Boyacá Avenue, in a south-north direction.

– Centennial Avenue (13th Street): from the Bogotá River to the city of Cali Avenue (86 Carrera Avenue), in a west-east direction.

– 80th Street Avenue: from the Guadua bridge to portal 80 of the TransMilenio system, in the west-east direction.

– Carrera 7 Avenue: from 245th Street to 183rd Street, in a north-south direction.

– Boyacá Avenue via the Llano: from the Argelino Durán Quintero tunnel to the old road to the Llano, in a south-north direction.

– Via Suba – Level: from the Bogotá river to Av. calle 170, in a north-south direction.

– Via La Calera: from the Patios toll to Carrera 7 Avenue, in an east-west direction.

– Road to Choachi: from the road to Monserrate to the ring road, in an east-west direction.

It is worth remembering that the circulation exemptions for the ‘solidarity peak and placard’, shared car and for medical personnel are not valid for the festive ‘peak and placard’.

Compliance with the measure, the last Reyes bridge (in January) left close to a million cars that passed through the Cundinamarca tolls and approximately 423,000 entered Bogotá with an average speed of 40 km/h. That Monday, January 10, in addition, there were no traffic fatalities and road accidents were reduced by 20%.

The total number of subpoenas imposed for failing to comply with the measure was less than a thousand, indicating a high percentage of compliance by citizens.
