The National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) confirmed that Peruvian streamers that generate income through the Kick platform will be obliged to declare and pay the income tax.
Marilú Llerena, head of the entity, explained that any income received in the country, regardless of its origin, is subject to taxation.
In the case of Kick, the platform already meets the payment of the General Sales Tax (IGV), so the attention now focuses on content creators.
“There are many who are paying their income tax, which is positive, but with the intersection of information we still identify a considerable number of people who must comply with this obligation,” Llerena said in RPP News.
The SUNAT warned that they will apply information crosses and inspection tools to identify those who are not complying with the regulations.
Although the institution maintains a stage of induction and accompaniment to users of digital platforms, streamers have the immediate obligation to declare their income.
The next step will be a more systematic monitoring to ensure that all content generators conform to current tax regulations.
