Attention! Instant payments may experience interruptions this Saturday

The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) informed today economic agents and the general public that tomorrow, Saturday, July 27, the SWIFT Corporation, which is the entity responsible for operating the flow of payments in the country, will be carrying out its usual global business continuity exercise on its platform, which is why some interruptions in the Payments service may occur.

According to the institution in a statement, Delays would occur between 12:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.

“We apologize to users of the BCRD Instant Payments service for any inconvenience this situation may cause and we appeal to their understanding, as these exercises contribute to guaranteeing the quality of the payment messaging service provided by the SWIF Corporation,” reads the BC’s communication.

What are instant payments?

It is a real-time payment service through which bank customers, using the electronic platforms of their respective banks, can make urgent or high-value payments, for fund transfers, credit card payments or loans, in Dominican pesos and US dollars, charged to their accounts. This service is designed on the BCRD’s LBTR System, which facilitates real-time transactions between banks.
