Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) reported that as of this Sunday March 1, the partial closure of the intersection of thes República de Colombia and Jacobo Majluta avenuesto begin the construction of a new overpass in that area of the capital.
According to the institution, a temporary detour will be enabled in the vicinity of the intervened area in order to maintain the vehicular traffic and minimize congestion while the work is being carried out.
The MOPC explained that the project seeks to improve mobility, reduce traffic jams and increase road safety in one of the points with the highest traffic flow in Santo Domingo.
Likewise, he indicated that the detour will be properly signposted and will have control and orientation devices to facilitate transit. This provisional configuration will be maintained for several months, as the different stages of construction progress.
The entity urged drivers to use alternate routes when possible, respect traffic signs andfollow the instructions of authorized personnel. He also recommended leaving with additional time to avoid delays.

Finally, Public Works apologized to citizens for any temporary inconveniences that may be generated due to this intervention, which is part of the efforts to improve road infrastructure in Greater Santo Domingo.
