Attacks that hit

The mafia war has been waged vigorously not only in the territories of Mexico and Colombia, but also in Paraguay.

The attack in the area of Pedro Juan Caballero against the municipal mayor and also against other people in the same area of Amambay leads us to considerable concern and to think seriously about how incapable this Government is of dealing with organized crime, because all those expressions of that “we are worried”, “we care”, the sending of the Minister of the Interior to Pedro Juan Caballero to hear a harsh reprimand from Governor Acevedo, brother of the shot mayor, shows us a situation of defenselessness and inability of the Government to face to this that has already become a serious problem of coexistence among Paraguayans.

When fear, and fundamentally, the Government’s incapacity, are mixed, we are faced with what we could call a Failed State, a group of people who were given a monopoly on force and who, however, are not capable of fighting against her.

Governor Acevedo also said that all the police officers in the Amambay area are working for drug trafficking, and if we add to that the distrust of justice in the form of prosecutors or judges, we have a complete picture of the serious breakdown of the entire social structure. of Paraguay, and the lack of institutional capacity to deal with this type of assault on life and the integrity of society as a whole.

We believe that it is time for the Government to put on its long pants and face with realism, with truth, and with strength this that can end each one of us in a sea of disappointment and -why not- of our own lives.
