THE US and Israeli military offensive on Iranunleashed this Saturday (28), left at least 201 people dead and 747 injured.
The information is attributed to a spokesperson for the Red Crescent Society, a civil humanitarian organization, and was reported by news agencies, such as Arabic Al Jazeera.
According to the Red Crescent, 24 of the 31 Iranian provinces were the target of attacks. Provinces are administrative territorial organizations, equivalent to states here in Brazil.
According to the Islamic Republic News Agency (Irnain its acronym in English), one of the attacks was on a girls’ school, in Minab, southern Iran, leaving at least 85 students dead and 60 injured. Around 50 people were still under rubble.
Offensive and reactions
The attacks by the United States and Israel came two days after a round of negotiations between the Americans and the Iranians over limits on Iran’s nuclear program. The country claims that nuclear technology is for peaceful purposes. However, the United States and some allies, especially Israel, do not accept Iranian nuclear development.
Several countries, among them Brazilcondemned this Saturday’s offensive. The United Nations (UN) called for a ceasefire in the region.
When justifying the attacksthe President of the United States, Donald Trump, said he defends Americans.
In retaliation, the Iran attacked neighboring countries that house American military bases. According to Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Hamid Ghanbari, the country has the right to defend itself.
