The four detainees for the attack on Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, which occurred on Thursday, September 1, in front of her apartment in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Recoleta, were transferred to maximum security prisons, as confirmed to Télam by the inspector of the Federal Penitentiary Service ( SPF), Maria Laura Garrigós.
The decision to transfer the detainees was resolved in the last few hours by federal judge number 5, María Eugenia Capuchettiwho is in charge of the file for the attack against the vice president.
Why to a maximum security prison
In principle, the decision is to transfer the four suspects, Fernando Sabag Montiel, Brenda Uliarte, Agustina Diaz and Nicolas Gabriel Carrizoto the Penitentiary Complex I of Ezeizaalthough for reasons of space it is likely that the latter will later be derived to Mark Peace.
“For the crime they are accused of, all of them will be housed in maximum security prisons,” Garrigós told Télam, who confirmed that “just like any detainee, the four will be interviewed by specialists, they must undergo medical examinations and recently there it will be decided in which pavilion they are housed”.
“An analysis must be made, a prognosis according to age, the level of acceptance of each one of them”explained the intervener of the SPF who, in addition, added that “the places of lodging will be resolved once it is evaluated where there is available space”.
Garrigós told Télam that, as planned since the start of the pandemic, all prisoners who enter the prison service “must serve a seven-day isolation period.”
The transfers were carried out in a coordinated manner by personnel from the Airport Security Police and the City Police, as confirmed by sources in the investigation.
The transfers were filmed by the authorities and in one of the videos Sabag Montiel can be seen saying to the police officers who are transferring him, “Bye, guys, thanks.”
