President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported that investigations into the attack suffered by four workers of the Federal Electricity Commission in Sonora are progressing. He mentioned that one of the hypotheses that is developed is that they have been confused in a region (located on the limits of Chihuahua) that is in dispute by criminal groups.
The data is also analyzed because there is a second hypothesis according to which the workers, in compliance with their duty, reinstalled electricity to two towns where cuts had been registered and that the criminals attacked them in retaliation.
On the other hand, in the presidential conference, the undersecretary of Public Security and Citizen Protection, Ricardo Mejía Berdeja, referred to the operation carried out on Wednesday by the Navy in the capital’s outskirts, which was deployed based on intelligence information that had been obtained and through interceptions of calls that reported the transfer of a kidnapped woman.
It was a continuous operation in coordination with the civil authorities. Different inquiries and intelligence acts were carried out, so the vehicle and communications could be located, and finally rescue Ailyn ‘N’, who had gone to visit her children in Atizapán de Zaragoza.
Mejía Berdeja also explained that by agreement of Secretary Rosa Icela Rodríguez, an interdisciplinary anti-homicide team was created in the SSPC within the framework of the National Strategy for Public Security. This group fundamentally deals with femicides and intentional homicides that are registered in the country to assist the Public Ministry and public security authorities. She explained that it began its operations in the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico, but it is intended that it carry out activities throughout the country. For now, it has provided technical and legal advice to the prosecutors of Morelos and Hidalgo in the integration of folders and in the completion of arrest warrants and searches.
