On the fateful morning of last Saturday, a group of narco-terrorists not only savagely ended the lives of seven brave policemen who were doing their work in the vraem to achieve the long-awaited pacification, but also hurt their families, friends and loved ones who mourn their departure today.

One of the fallen is PNP non-commissioned officer Sandro Villegas Corahua, barely 24 years old, born in Acari, Arequipa, and who is remembered for standing out in sports and having an inclination towards a police career since he was a child.
After graduating from the PNP Technical School of Ica, in June 2019, he served at the Acari Police Station and in two periods for the PNP Special Operations Directorate. In 2019 she took a course in the fight against terrorism.
“Strength, little brother. There are no words to calm this pain so great that you feel (…) God help us and give us strength. Help us, sir, to calm this pain,” said Villegas’ sister.
Another fallen was the non-commissioned officer PNP Iván Muñoz Fasabi (34), from Celendín, Cajamarca. He specialized in anti-terrorism and search brigades, police rescue and emergency operations.
On five occasions he received congratulations for his “outstanding police service”, the last being in June 2021. Today his five brothers mourn his unexpected death due to an attack in the heart of the jungle. His parents and wife also suffer. He leaves a son orphaned.
Petty officer PNP Wilder Eliseo Conozco (39), from Huaribamba, Huancavelica, is remembered for his good soccer technique. When he finished school he prepared for two years of military service to join the PNP, managing to do it on the first try.
“My God, why so much pain and suffering in the family,” said a niece of Wilder’s. She leaves two daughters orphaned.

Petty Officer Williams Quispe Anchay (38) suffered the same fate. After graduating in 2008, he went through Dirandro, USE Salvataje, the Piura Police Region, among others. He leaves two children in the orphanage.
One of his colleagues remembers him as someone witty who made “promotions laugh.” “May our Lord Jesus have you in his holy glory,” she exclaimed.
PNP non-commissioned officer Luis Cerrón Palacios (48), from Chupaca, Junín, was awarded the rank of Knight in 2018 for “meritorious services.” The same award was received by PNP non-commissioned officer Alfredo Loayza (52), from Lima, in 2020.
The remains of non-commissioned officer PNP Juvenal Collahuacho (30), from Ayacucho, were the only ones that did not arrive in Lima for the ceremony. In his hometown of Acco he was laid to rest in the midst of a crowd that mourned the loss of the courageous policeman.
