ATP reports an increase of 11.8% in the arrival of international visitors to Panama in 2024

A recent analysis of tourism performance has revealed a notable increase in the arrival of international visitors to Panama, registering a growth of 11.8% during the months of January and February 2024. According to data from the National Migration Service, the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC) of the Comptroller General of the Republic and hotel monitoring, a total of 574,029 visitors entered the country through its main ports of entry.

This increase in tourist influx translated into income of $1,023.1 million, representing an increase of 5.6% compared to the same period of the previous year. In addition, the hotel occupancy rate stood at 60.5% during these two months, according to data from the hotel sector and PROMTUR.

The monthly report also highlights an increase in the number of visitors who arrived in the country via cruise ships, reaching 128,359 people, 7.7% more than in 2023. Tocumen International Airport registered 356,958 entries, representing an increase of 16.1 % compared to the previous year.

The breakdown by country shows significant growth in visitors from the United States, with 79,780 visitors, followed by Colombia (49,681), Venezuela (17,653), Brazil (14,569), Mexico (11,466) and Argentina (12,637). Regarding European markets, the highest revenues were from Spain (11,922), Germany (6,853), France (8,851), Italy (6,395) and Holland (4,916).

These data include all visitors who entered the country, whether tourists, excursionists or cruise passengers, based on information from the National Migration Service and the INEC of the Comptroller’s Office, and analyzed by the Statistics Department of the Planning Directorate of the Panama Tourism Authority.

The report highlights the positive trend of the tourism sector in Panama, reflecting the effectiveness of promotional strategies and the country’s growing attraction as an international tourist destination.
