Atlético Paranaense took a slight advantage tonight on Tuesday and beat Palmeiras 1-0, in the first leg of the semifinal between Brazilians, for the 2022 Copa Libertadores.

At the Arena da Baixada stadium, in the city of Curitiba, the local team won with the solitary conquest of Alex Santana, 23 minutes into the first half.

Chilean referee Roberto Tobar expelled midfielder Hugo Moura, from the winning cast, at 24m. of the second period, for committing an intentional handball while he was already cautioned.

Those led by Luiz Felipe Scolari (who is also an emblem for Palmeiras) were expeditious and decisive in the first 45 minutes, where they struck in one of the first offensive incursions that had the ‘Verdao’ area, current double champion of the highest continental competition.

About 23m. there was a center from Khelven, which was lowered with solvency by the kid Vitor Roque and allowed Alex Santana to define with mastery.

In the second part, the São Paulo team, which ended a streak of 18 games without losing in Libertadores (he was undefeated in this edition in ten matches), he did not have the fluidity or the circulation of other matches and he was left regretting not having been able –even- to level the scoreboard, even though he enjoyed numerical superiority for just over 20 minutes.

The Tucuman winger Tomás Cuello (former Atlético Tucumán) joined the local team in the second half, while the Corrientes forward José López (former Lanús) started in Palmeiras, although he was replaced midway through the second half by Wesley Ribeiro.

The rematch will be played next week, on Tuesday, September 6, at the Allianz Parque in São Paulo.
