The company Goodyear in San Luis Potosí, a labor conflict is on the horizon, since workers denounced the “appearance of a collective labor contract”, apparently signed with the CTM without even having employees, for which they will undertake actions that could lead to a labor complaint given that it is a priority sector (automotive).
Gonzalo Israel Soto, Special Delegate of the Mexican Workers Union League (LSOM), stated that “They won’t wait for the first of May to arrive to seek a change, but from today (yesterday) we will open a campaign to organize ourselves to demand our right to freedom of association”.
He stressed that before the first stone was laid, “the CTM union and the company made a collective agreement ‘by way’ which violates the exercise of the contract law.”
In this sense, he told the director of the Federal Center for Conciliation and Labor Registration (CFCRL), Alfredo Domíngues Marrufo, that the Goodyear company intends to impose a collective bargaining agreement in conjunction with the “Miguel Trujillo” union, linked to the Confederation of Workers of Mexico, and who lost the General Motors contract.
Illegal way, the tire company wants to ignore the Contract Law that governs the Rubber Industry to apply the working conditions agreed with said union, denounced Soto, Special Delegate of the Mexican Workers Union League.
According to the Liga Sindical Obrera Mexicana, the collective bargaining agreement signed 8 years ago was modified in the following years, until it became the set of labor relations that govern all unionized people who work at Goodyear, although never exceeding the working conditions established in the Contract Law.
“For these reasons, a group of unionized people, active workers at the Goodyear company in San Luis Potosí, have decided to organize ourselves into an independent union and carry out activities aimed at achieving authentic representation and through it and conscious activity of our colleagues, to ensure that the Contract is applied in our factory Law on the Industry of the Transformation of Rubber into Manufactured Products“, he pointed.
Likewise, he said that “they hope that now our rights will be fulfilled and the law and justice will be enforced for the people who work at Goodyear; In particular, for the representatives of the Mexican Workers’ Union League, we hope that all the guarantees are provided for the development of our work,” said the League.
