At least two deaths remained the official balance due to the powerful Hurricane Ian as it passed over Cuban territory on Tuesday. The victims were reported from Pinar del Río.
The news came out of one of the meetings of President Miguel Díaz-Canel with authorities of that territory to evaluate the many damages caused by the powerful tropical system.

One of the victims is a woman and lost her life in the municipality of San Luis after a wall fell. The other death, a man, was caused by the collapse of the roof of a house in which other people were. The identity of none was disclosed.
According to agency report Latin PressDíaz-Canel toured areas of the Pinar del Río territory and spoke with the population of that territory, in a first visit on Tuesday.
This Wednesday, according to TV Pinarthe president of Cuba had returned to the territory from where damages to homes and socio-economic entities are recorded.
Ian caused considerable damage to homes in almost all municipalities, agriculture, the electrical system and communications.

Communities like San Diego de los Baños had been left incommunicado by the overflowing of reservoirs; in this case, the La Juventud dam.
More than 40,000 people were evacuated in the province and the entire territory remains without electricity, local media pointed out.
This morning the General Staff of Civil Defense in Cuba decreed the recovery phase for the western provinces, the most affected by this hurricane, already a category four.
