At least six people were injured and one dead in a shooting that occurred at the Florida State University (FSU), in Tallahassee, Thursday.
The number of injured is subject to changes, police sources reported.
A suspect is in custody, they told the press.
The shooting took place near the student union, according to an FSU alert, which had recommended students to stay in their homes before the fact.
A student said he was in the building in front of the students union when the alert sirens began to sound.
The Florida Police Department claimed to be “actively participating in the incident.”

The FBI is also collaborating with the university authorities, according to a spokesman for that agency.
FSU announced that classes are canceled until Friday. The public schools of the León County have been closed by caution.
The governor of Florida, Republican Ron Desantis, said the authorities were “actively” to the situation.
The president of the Florida House of Representatives, Daniel Pérez, described the incident as “terrifying and the worst nightmare of any father.”
