At least six dead and a dozen injured leave the fall of an interprovincial service bus in the Cusco region. The event occurred in the province of Chumbivilcas, where a passenger transport unit fell to a slope of at least 200 meters after leaving the road.
The unfortunate incident occurred at 05:00 last Tuesday, when the bus with the A2L-709 taxiing plate belonging to the transport company ‘Olivares’ he got lost in the sector called Totora Alta, on the Cusco – Livitaca road.
At least six passengers died at the scene, leaving another 12 injuredas declared to MailRony Almora, mayor of Livitaca. “We have ordered the departure of all municipal units to transfer the injured to the health center in the area, the most serious are taking them to Cusco”he quoted.
IBA BUS ALTERNATE ROUTE
It was learned that the injured bus covered a different route than the one it usually travels, This is due to the blockades on the Cusco – Combapata – Tungasuca route, for which the unit had to travel an alternate route through Totora Alta.
According to the burgomaster of the area, The first investigations point to a minor who was driving the bus, because the driver would have shown signs of fatigue, giving him the wheel. So far there are no traces of the alleged cause of the event, this version is still being investigated by the Police.
The bus left at 7:00 p.m. on the last Monday from the city of Cusco, 22 passengers were on board, part of them were workers from the municipality of Livitaca and Chamaca. The relatives demand a prompt investigation of the facts.
