At least eight dead in shooting at Texas mall

At least eight people died this Saturday and seven were injured after a shooting in a shopping center in the city of Allen, Texas, in the southern United States.

Investigators believe the shooter acted alone, according to the report.

The outlet also notes that at least nine people were rushed to medical centers, two of whom died. Of the surviving victims, three were in critical condition, while four were stable as of Saturday night.

Some media estimate the fatalities at nine.

Police believe they have identified the alleged attacker’s vehicle, which was examined by the bomb squad as a precaution, a police source told the CNN.

The television network also quotes Congressman Keith Self, whose district includes Allen, as saying the attack could have been more deadly had it not been for the quick response by law enforcement.

This attack is the latest episode of gun violence across the United States that has inflicted terror on communities in their daily lives in schools, supermarkets, parks and shopping malls, it says. CNN.

The outlet recalls that it occurred a few days after, according to the authorities, an armed man opened fire at an Atlanta medical centera fact that left a woman dead and four other people injured.

The United States has experienced nearly 200 mass shootings so far this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive, which defines mass shootings as those in which four or more people are killed, not including the perpetrator of the attack.
