Using data from 90% of its member states, the UN agency projected an increase in the percentage of students with basic reading skills at the end of primary school, from 51% in 2015 to 67% in 2030.
A new report from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) warned that some 84 million children and young people will remain out of school by 2030 unless take effective action immediately.
Said report, published on July 7, pointed out that, at the current pace, only one in six countries will achieve the Sustainable Development Goal regarding universal access to quality education by the end of this decade.

However, the study estimates that nearly 300 million children and young people will continue to lack the basic skills of arithmetic and reading to have better jobs and opportunities in general.
