The coordinator of the Work Table for the Acquisition and supply of medicines, María Teresa Donderis, revealed this Friday in Telemetro Reporta, that according to the list they maintain, there are currently 42 medicines in a state of critical shortage, it is from June of 2020 and is being verified.
On March 15, President Laurentino Cortizo signed a decree approving the purchase of medicines when critical shortages are declared.
According to Ana Cuestas, National Director of Purchases of the Social Security Fund (CSS), direct purchases are not promoted with this regulation, but rather a specific procedure must first be passed through, but even so, it manages to reduce the bidding time.
“We have sought to remove those documents that are bureaucratic and we have gone to the requirements that international and local suppliers can meet and would not require further paperwork,” he said.
It should be mentioned that the first options would be online quotes and reverse auctions, if this is not achieved, then direct contracting would proceed.
In that sense, he said that the process, once there is a precedent of critical shortages, could last less than a week.
“Yes, we can say that it is a quick decree that in three days of publication, 24 hours that is being given to the technicians for evaluation and we will be able to go directly to the construction of a purchase order,” Cuestas pointed out.
